Sarah & Austin's Wedding | Winthrop University, July 10, 2021

This July (before the Delta variant spike), Sarah and Austin got married on a perfect summer day. I have known Sarah and her family since she was a middle schooler. When she was in 6th grade, I got to help direct her in “High School Musical” (she played Kelsey!), and she was one of my first senior photo clients! I have since photographed her and her family several times as she and her sister graduated from high school and college, so when they reached out to me to ask if I would photograph Sarah’s wedding, of course I squealed with joy!

The night before their big day, I photographed their rehearsal and rehearsal dinner at Dust Off Brewery in Rock Hill. Austin’s mom is a manager there, so they closed it down for a few hours for the private event. The brews, live music, and shrimp boil catered by Saltwater Markets helped to create a fantastic evening for everyone there to celebrate the couple!

The next morning, I arrived at the Cambria hotel, where Sarah and her bridesmaids were getting ready. Just behind Dust Off Brewery and only about a mile from their wedding venue, it was the perfect location with fantastic suites (and natural light!). Then we all headed over to Winthrop University!

Sarah and Austin chose Winthrop University (Tuttle and McBryde Halls) as their venue, and it was absolutely gorgeous on the day of their wedding. The natural light and space in both locations is a photographer’s dream! The Fresh Blossom created exquisite floral arrangements and bouquets, and Sarah even arranged a special kids’ table at the reception, complete with custom coloring book, crayons, card games, and treats for the children in attendance. The weather was sunny yet not too miserably hot, especially during mid-summer in the Deep South!

Their ceremony was sweet and perfect, and the reception was an absolute blast! It was the first indoor wedding I had shot in quite a while, and the first wedding after vaccinations were beginning to give us all hope. And it was SO MUCH FUN! There was so much celebration and dancing, it almost felt like things were back to normal. They could not have picked a better weekend for their wedding! God blessed their special day and guests (and vendors!) with such a joyful experience. I could not stop smiling behind my camera as I watched their family and friends have such a fantastic evening. Even Sarah remarked, "When we thought about our wedding day, we wanted to remember the smiles on each other's face forever. Every vendor, family member, and wedding guest contributed to the smiles that were on our faces. I will forever cherish our wedding day and the smile on my groom's face."
