It’s Nice to Meet You!
What's your favorite ice cream flavor?
Cookies 'n Cream
What's your most embarrassing childhood memory?
Probably an awful haircut I got right before 6th grade, and then the perm I got in 6th grade...maybe just 6th grade in general. (It's ironic that is what I teach now--I am reliving my most embarrassing year over and over!)
What is the scariest thing you've ever done?
White-water rafting down three class 5 rapids on the Nile River! Oh, and giving birth without an epidural!
If you could visit any place in the world, where would it be?
I am a travel bug and used to do a lot of traveling before I had kids. I really want to go to Hawaii, because it's one of the states I've never visited. I'd love to go back to Italy and spend some time relaxing in the Tuscan countryside, and I'd like to visit New Zealand because it just looks so darn beautiful there! And I really want to explore more of the U.S. national parks.
What's your favorite book?
I am a Language Arts teacher, so books are part of my life! Other than the Bible, it's hard to name one favorite...and they frequently change! Some of my favorite YA books are Gary Schmidt's The Wednesday Wars, a novel I used to teach to my 5th graders. I also love any books by Jerry Spinelli. I also enjoy all books written by Pat Conroy, because I grew up in Beaufort, SC, the setting of many of his stories. A recent favorite author has been Karen White, who also sets a lot of her stories in the Lowcountry and Southeast.
What are your 3 favorite movies?
Three movies I could watch over and over and over again are The Sound of Music, Thirteen Going on 30, and The Holiday! But movies are like books for me...there are so many good ones, it's hard to pick!
Who would play you in a movie about your life?
I'd love for Jennifer Garner to play me (she's adorable), but I am not sure I am quite as adorable as she is! I'd have to go with someone a little more awkward, like Zooey Deschanel or Emma Stone. Many people have said I look like Elizabeth Shue…so maybe she would be a good choice!
What are your favorite TV shows?
Stranger Things. I am obsessed. I also like a good sitcom, like Friends, Big Bang Theory, New Girl, and The Goldbergs. Another favorite is The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
What do you do for fun?
Photography, travel, watch movies, read, write, dream of going back to Disney World...;-)
When you are having a bad day, what do you do to pick yourself up?
Go on a walk. Eat a piece of chocolate. Create something or write about something I love!
What's your favorite food?
Cheese! And chocolate. Put them together and I’m in Heaven!
What's your biggest pet peeve?
When people don't read (directions, signs, etc.).
If you could shop for free at one store, which would you choose?
Amazon. I HATE shopping, but I love for the things I need to show up on my doorstep!
Who would you like to live like for a day?
My cat. Seriously he lays around, gets brushed, and does whatever he wants. ALL DAY LONG.
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A teacher! I did want to be an architect for about 5 minutes, but then I realized how much math there was.
Where's the most beautiful place you've ever been?
Austria, probably when I went on the Sound of Music Tour there!
What accomplishment are you most proud of?
My proudest accomplishments are my two children. I look at them every day and can't believe that God gave me the ability to help make and raise them!
Using one word, how would you describe your family?
Wild
Who is the kindest person you know?
One of the teachers I used to teach with, Amy Rossett.
What inspires you?
Watching my students and children figure things out and learn how to do something for the first time. And good music.
What led you to become a photographer?
I have been taking photos since I got my first camera, a little Kodak 110 film camera. I used to pose my Cabbage Patch kids! I've also always been a big memory-keeper and scrapbooker, so photos are a precious part of my life. Once digital photography was born and I didn't have to worry about the expense of film, I could get more creative! I bought my first DSLR (a Nikon d50) to make sure I had a nice camera to take photos at my brother's wedding, and then I just kept photographing more and more...my travel experiences, summer camp adventures, friends, and family. Several people kept telling me that I had a "good eye" and should pursue photography myself, so after an amazing experience with my own wedding photographer, Carol McDaniel, I decided to pursue it as a second career!
What do you love most about your job?
I love being able to capture moments in time. Since I've had my own children, I realize how quickly time passes, so being able to freeze a special moment through an image is such a blessing and treasure!
I am a wife, mom, teacher and PHOTOGRAPHER.
At first I just wanted to capture the beauty of my travel experiences and the people I love. But the more I learned, the more I fell in love with photography. I began taking family portraits and soon after, photographing weddings. And that is when Kimberly Cauble Photography was born.
I love capturing special moments in time...being able to freeze a moment in God's creation is a gift He has given us.
My style is simple and classic. I try to capture life as it happens by creating a relaxed, fun atmosphere with my clients. I love bold, bright colors, but I also enjoy the simplicity of a black-and-white photo.- Kimberly
