Emily & Austin's Wedding | Charlotte Wedding Photographer
As soon as I met Emily and Austin at their engagement session last Fall, I knew we were kindred spirits. They are both music educators and shared with me how they met in college and took forever to admit they had feelings for each other! But it was obvious after only spending a few minutes with them that God created them for each other. When Emily looks into Austin’s eyes, she melts.
Emily is one of the most genuinely kind people I have ever met, and she was an absolutely stunning bride! She remained calm throughout the day and actually glowed, especially whenever Austin was near. Austin is also one of the friendliest guys, a true gentleman, and has the best smile! The looks on their faces at their first look could melt even the hardest of hearts, and they looked at each other like that ALL. DAY. LONG!
Emily and Austin were married at Grace Church in Harrisburg, Emily’s home church, and their officiant was a close family friend and the church’s associate pastor. His entire family helped with the wedding, including his daughter, who played the harp during the ceremony! One of the most beautiful details of their ceremony was a cross covered in gorgeous flowers. I remember Emily’s dad telling us that he didn’t want it to look too pretty—the cross itself was not a pretty thing. He knows his theology! But what happened on the cross was beautiful and represents the sacrificial love of Christ, and I loved that it was a centerpiece to Emily and Austin’s wedding ceremony. The ceremony was appropriately full of music, from the harpist to the songs that the wedding party and guests joined in singing together. Even in the midst of a global pandemic, there were many friends and family members who were able to attend.
Their reception was held in the fellowship hall of the church, which was decorated with lots of twinkle lights and beautiful linens and flower arrangements. Emily and Austin’s first dance was just the beginning of many sweet moments the two of them would share with each other throughout the evening. The toasts by their friends and family were full of laughter, hugs, and a few happy tears. It is so obvious what a positive impact their friends and family have had on Emily and Austin’s lives, and the impact they have had on their friends and family. After dinner, the cake was cut and dancing ensued, and this group didn’t hold back! The DJ even passed a microphone around a few times so that guests could show off their musical talents as their favorites songs played. The evening ended with a grand sparkler exit, and Emily and Austin were off to begin their lives as one.
Covid has wreaked havoc on many brides and grooms this seasons—Emily and Austin had to change venues in order to keep their original wedding date of June 20, 2020, but I don’t think their wedding could have been more perfect, right in Emily’s home church with all their favorite people. This was my first wedding of the year (all of my others have been rescheduled, but no cancellations, thank goodness!), and it felt SOOOO good to be back, surrounded by happy smiles, warm hugs, pretty details, and love.
Emily and Austin, thank you for giving me the precious honor and blessing of being able to document your wedding day! It was an honor to be there, and like every wedding, reminded me what marriage is designed for—to mirror the relationship between Church and Christ, who gave Himself for us so that we can be set apart and presented us as holy and blameless before God. I felt that love through the entire day!
