Fairytale Wedding and Reception at the White Home | Rock Hill Wedding Photographer
“It truly was the best day ever!”
That’s how Savannah described her wedding day, and I would have to agree! From the subtle nods to Disney, the four ADORABLE flower girls, and the beautiful, historic White Home in Rock Hill, it truly was one for the books!
Savannah and Will met while in college at Winthrop University, which is where I first met Will at their engagement photo session last Fall. I’ve known Savannah for years through church, but this was my first time meeting Will, and he was SO.MUCH.FUN! Unlike many grooms, he did not shy away from the camera and was full of jokes and laughter, making their photo session so easy! That fun personality was also very evident on their wedding day, from the silly photos Will took with his groomsmen to the jumping photos the couple took together during their reception. (I know it’s totally cheeseball, but I love jumping pictures!) Savannah is also a huge Disney fan, like me, so when she booked me as her photographer and told me that she would be having some Disney-themed ideas for their big day, I knew I would be right in my element! She wore a shirt before putting on her dress with the date embroidered in Disney font, had “Best Day Ever” cups at the reception (from Tangled, remember?), and even had an Up-themed mailbox at their gift table!
Before the wedding ceremony, Savannah and Will did a sweet “first look” at the White Home. There we were also able to do all of their detail and getting ready shots and photographs with the wedding party there. Then we rode over to the church where they were getting married, Woodland United Methodist Church. Some of my favorite moments of their ceremony were watching her walk down the aisle with her dad and Will’s face as he saw his bride walking toward him, her adorable flower girls arranging her beautiful dress, when Savannah and Will high-fived each other after walking down the aisle, and seeing them serve the Lord’s supper to their guests. Savannah even reflected, “The most meaningful part of our wedding was getting the chance to serve communion to our friends and family. It showed that we not only are prepared for this marriage but that we have such a strong support system as well.” I also thoroughly enjoyed listening to the poignant message that their pastor preached about how marriage is not easy, takes work, and is entirely worth it if you put in the effort. It was so real and full of absolute truth!
After the ceremony, we rode back to The White Home where the newly married couple was introduced to their guests and enjoyed a delicious barbeque meal provided by Dan Good Que’s food truck. I was able to pull the couple aside for some gorgeous portraits just before sunset, and then they cut their cake. “The funniest part of the night was either us kind of failing in cutting the cake correctly or the shoe game. Both of these showed our sense of humor and how we love to laugh with each other,” commented Savannah. (Don’t worry, cake cutting is crazy difficult, especially when you have a BEAUTIFUL one that you don’t want to ruin!) After some cake, cupcakes, and a bit of a sugar rush, the dancing ensued! Their phenomenal DJ, Allison Rose, provided not only great music, but interacted with the all the guests and even busted a few moves of her own on the dance floor!
All in all, it was a spectacular day. “We were both so happy with how everything went and felt so much love and support from our friends and family! It was truly the best day ever!”
Congratulations, Savannah and Will! It was an absolute honor to be a part of your wedding!
Currently, Savannah is an early childhood elementary teacher, and Will is in seminary at Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary in Columbia, SC.
